Dear Mr. and Mrs. Brandemarti,

My name is Stephen Tricarico.  I am finishing up my Junior year and Study Abroad semester at James Cook University in Townsville, Australia.  Townsville is located in the northeast coast of Australia.  Back at Fordham, I am a Business Administration major with a concentration in Finance.  I walked on the track team my Sophomore year and have been running the 200 meter and 400 meter dashes.  I have been interning on the Trading Desk at Miller Tabak & Co. each summer since.  I graduated from Chaminade High School in Mineola (Long Island).  While working at Miller Tabak, I have passed the Series 7 and Series 63 exams; I will be working there again this summer when I arrive home in late June.

Both myself and my family are extremely grateful for your generosity in awarding me your son’s Memorial scholarship.  As the son of a Lieutenant in the FDNY, I have some understanding of the tragedy of September 11th.  It is most important not only to remember those who have fallen on 9/11, but also to live on in their name.  Thank you again for this honor, and I look forward to meeting you in person at your convenience this summer.

Sincerely,

Stephen Tricarico

Dear Brandemarti family:

My name is Matt Gibbons.  I graduated from the Gloucester County Police Academy on July 19, 2007 and was honored beyond words to be awarded the scholarship in you son Nicholas’ name.  As honored as I am, I am truly saddened that this country lost so many great human beings, like Nick, on that tragic September day in 2001.

Your generosity and the fact that Nick’s memory will live on through your foundations inspiring.  I am enclosing the essay I wrote for the academy which I hope will give you some understanding of the type of person I am and how serious I take this honor.

Also, I am enclosing a small check to donate to the Nicholas Brandemarti Foundation to help keep Nicks memory alive through scholarships like the one I received.  I was just offered a job with the Gibbsboro Police Department and hope to begin working for them in the next couple of weeks.

As stated in my essay: “I would be honored, proud and humbled to win this scholarship and would be proud to carry the Nicholas Brandemarti characteristics of kindness, strong work ethic and positive attitude throughout my career as a police officer.”

Thank you for your kindness and I am truly very sorry for your loss.

   Sincerely,

     Matt Gibbons
